Common questions

How do I back up my collection?

  1. Open Settings → Data → Export and choose a full backup.
  2. Choose a password. Without it, nobody can open the backup, so store it somewhere safe, for example in the Passwords app.
  3. Save the file somewhere other than your iPhone, such as iCloud Drive, a computer or a USB drive.

The full backup includes your photos. If Include in iPhone Backups is on in Settings → Privacy, your collection is also part of your regular iPhone backup.

I forgot my backup password

The password can't be recovered or reset, because it isn't stored anywhere. If you added a hint, Numicrow shows it when you import the file. If your collection is still in the app, export a new backup with a new password and delete the old file.

How do I move my collection to a new iPhone?

If your collection is part of your iPhone backup, restoring that backup to the new iPhone brings Numicrow back with it. Otherwise:

  1. On the old iPhone, export a full backup.
  2. Move the file to the new iPhone, for example with AirDrop or iCloud Drive.
  3. On the new iPhone, open Settings → Data → Import, pick the file and enter the password.

Can I import my collection from a spreadsheet?

Yes. In Settings → Data → Import you can get a CSV template. Fill it in with your spreadsheet app, then import it. Numicrow shows a preview before anything is added.

Face ID or Touch ID doesn't unlock the app

Use your iPhone passcode instead; it always works as a fallback. If the problem continues, check that Numicrow is allowed in iOS Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Other Apps.

Does Numicrow show the current value of my metals?

Not yet. The current version shows what you paid. Live metal prices may come in a future update.

Where is my data stored?

Only on your iPhone, and in backups you make. The developer has no copy. Details are in the privacy policy.
