Numicrow Privacy Policy
In short
- Your collection, photos and notes are stored on your iPhone and in your own iPhone backups. They are not sent to the developer or to any server operated by the developer.
- Numicrow has no account and no sign-in.
- The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code, and the current version makes no network requests.
- The developer only receives information you choose to send, for example when you email for support.
1Who is responsible
Numicrow is developed and published by Szabolcs Kalina, an independent developer based in the Czech Republic ("the developer", "I"). For any question about this policy or your data, write to privacy@szabi.cc.
2Your collection stays on your iPhone
Everything you enter in Numicrow is stored in the app's private storage on your device. This includes:
- coins and bars with their details, such as metal, weight, purity, mint, year, country, denomination, serial number, mintage and edition number
- purchase prices, purchase dates, dealers and packaging
- photos you add and notes you write
- your settings, saved dealers and custom mints
The developer has no copy of this information and cannot see, recover or restore it. There is no cloud storage operated by the developer.
Numicrow stores its data with iOS Data Protection, so the database and photos are encrypted while your iPhone is locked.
iPhone backups
By default, your Numicrow data is included in your regular iPhone backup to iCloud or to your computer, so you can get your collection back on a new or repaired iPhone. Those backups are handled by Apple, or by your computer, under their own terms. The developer never has access to them. If you prefer to keep Numicrow out of these backups, turn off Include in iPhone Backups in Settings → Privacy. Your collection then exists only on your iPhone and in backup files you export yourself.
3No account, no network
Numicrow does not ask for your name, email address or any other account details. The current version of the app makes no network requests: it does not connect to the developer, to price services or to any third party.
A future version may offer live metal prices. If it does, the app will only download public price data, and it will not send your collection, photos, notes or any identifier with those requests. This policy will be updated before such a version is released.
4Permissions the app asks for
Camera
Used only when you choose to take a photo of an item. Photos are saved inside Numicrow, not to your photo library.
Photos
When you add a photo from your library, iOS lets you pick specific images. Numicrow receives only the photos you pick and cannot browse the rest of your library.
Face ID and Touch ID
Numicrow can lock with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. The check is done by iOS. Numicrow only learns whether it succeeded and never receives your face or fingerprint data.
5Photo metadata
Photos taken with a phone often contain hidden information, such as the location where they were taken. Numicrow removes location and other EXIF metadata from photos when you add them.
6Backups and exports you create
You can export your collection from Settings, and you decide where the file goes, for example the Files app, AirDrop or email. Once a file leaves Numicrow, the service you send it through handles it under its own terms.
- Full backup. A single file containing your items and photos, encrypted with AES-256 using a password you choose. The password is not stored in the app or in the file, and nobody can open the backup without it, including the developer. If you add a password hint, the hint is stored unencrypted in the backup file so it can be shown when you import.
- CSV export. A spreadsheet file of your items. It is protected with a password by default; if you turn that off, the file is not encrypted. You can also choose to leave out notes and serial numbers.
7Privacy features in the app
- The app locks again after a delay you choose and when it has been idle.
- Its content is hidden in the iOS app switcher.
- Privacy Mode blurs totals and weights on the Summary until you tap them.
8What the developer receives
Numicrow contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software from third parties, and it does not track you across apps or websites. The developer may receive the following, only through Apple:
- App Store information. Apple provides developers with aggregated download and sales figures. These do not identify you.
- Crash reports and usage statistics. Only if you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's Settings. Apple anonymises this information before the developer sees it.
- TestFlight feedback. If you test a beta version through TestFlight, Apple shares the feedback, screenshots and crash reports you send, along with the name and email address you used for TestFlight.
9Purchases
Numicrow currently has no in-app purchases. If they are added, payments will be processed entirely by Apple. The developer will not receive your payment details.
10Support emails
If you email the developer, I receive your email address and whatever you write. I use it only to reply to you, and I keep it only as long as needed to handle your request. Please don't send photos of invoices or details about your holdings unless they are needed to solve the problem.
11Deleting your data
You can delete individual items in the app at any time. Deleting Numicrow from your iPhone removes all of its data from the device. Copies remain in backup or export files you created yourself, and in your iPhone backups unless you turned off Include in iPhone Backups.
12You are responsible for your data
Because your collection exists only on your devices and in backups you control, keeping it safe is up to you. The developer has no copy and cannot restore lost data, recover a forgotten backup password or undo a deletion.
- Export a full backup regularly and keep it somewhere safe, separate from your iPhone.
- Store your backup password somewhere you won't lose it, for example in the Passwords app.
- You decide what you enter in Numicrow, where you send exported files and who you share them with.
The information you enter is for your own records. Numicrow does not verify it and is not a valuation, insurance or tax record.
13Your rights
Because the developer does not hold your collection data, there is nothing to access, correct or delete on the developer's side except support emails. You can ask to see or delete those at any time by writing to privacy@szabi.cc.
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have rights under the GDPR and similar laws, including the right to complain to a data protection authority. In the Czech Republic this is the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů).
14Children
Numicrow is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
15Changes to this policy
If Numicrow starts handling data differently, for example by adding live prices or purchases, this policy will be updated first and the effective date above will change.
